Limited-Release, Art-Bearing Silver Dime Cards

What makes a silver dime card suitable for agorist exchange?

Quality.  Carefully hand crafted, with original, sometimes whimsical folk art designed to please an agorist, lovingly surrounding a genuine 90% silver U.S. Liberty dime (called by some a “Mercury” dime, minted between 1916 and 1945), circulated grades.   No Roosevelts here.

Durability.  Canon ChromaLife (TM) inks designed to last 100 years or more, painstakingly applied by a high-resolution photo printer on digital art-grade acid-free 300 gsm ragstock.  Encased in a hand-laminated heat-sealed plastic pouch 5 to 7 mils thick.  These are cards designed to last for generations, if reasonably cared for.  Keep dry and store out of direct sunlight; avoid temperature extremes; do not bend or fold.

Fungibility.  SilTraCa silver dime cards are designed to be convenient for trading, and the encased silver dime can’t accidentally be confused with a nearly worthless modern dime.  The Liberty dime card series are made only in a standard U.S. credit card size (2.125 x 3.375 inch) designed to be interchangeable with other silver dime cards on the market today, based on silver content and slight numismatic value of the circulated grades.

Scarcity.  Genuine silver Liberty dime, nominal metal content 2.25 g Ag, 0.25 g Cu.  They aren’t making any more of these.  Original art, in very limited release quantities, all with the artist attributed, all serial numbered and identified.   Great for collecting.  Perfect for trading.  Is the premium too high?  Only the collector decides.

Collectibility. Limited-series collectible art can’t hurt the silver dime card value, but the art might add to value if demand by collectors materializes.  Any collectible value of the art is “gravy” over the standard trading value.  It’s fun to trade and collect these cards.  They are a unique and charming reflection of the times and artists.  The artist will trade card-for-card when trading in person.

SilTraCa releases silver dime cards by the rule of nines: An indefinite number of series, nine books in each series. Nine card designs in each book. Nine versions of each card design, and no more than ninety-nine produced of each card design, all individually hand numbered. The collector is assured of a large number of different designs, with only very small number (99 or less) of each design ever produced, making SilTraCa silver dime cards ideal for collecting, trading, and storing value in a relatively small increment and conveniently compact size.
